Freedom Comes with Responsibility: Here’s What to Consider
Running your own business is incredibly rewarding but it also takes planning, commitment, and a clear understanding of what’s involved.
Before deciding if this is the right path for you, take a moment to consider the following:
You must hold an Australian Business Number (ABN).
You’ll be responsible for sourcing and maintaining your own participant caseload.
You’ll be responsible for holding your own insurances.
You’ll need to manage your own tax responsibilities as an independent contractor.
You’ll need to manage your own superannuation if operating as a company. However, if you’re a sole trader, Konnectable will pay your superannuation.
You’ll be expected to engage in ongoing professional development to stay current and aligned with NDIS requirements.
Knowing these responsibilities upfront means you’re stepping in with your eyes open and a solid sense of what running your own business really looks like. Alongside these responsibilities, there are also a handful of non-negotiable documents, checks, and qualifications you’ll need to have in place before joining Konnectable.
These help ensure you’re kicking off your contractor journey feeling organised, prepared, and ready for what’s next. Think of the next section as your roadmap - a clear, no-surprises list of everything you’ll need.
